Crispy Prosciutto Caprese Sandwich

A fresh Italian-inspired sandwich layered with crispy prosciutto, creamy mozzarella, juicy salted tomatoes, peppery arugula, and a homemade basil avocado aioli. Served on a toasted baguette with a drizzle of olive oil, this sandwich is crunchy, fresh, creamy, and perfect for summer.

Ingredients
  

Basil Avocado Aioli
  • ½ cup avocado mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley
  • 1 garlic clove

  • Toasted baguette
  • Basil avocado aioli
  • Fresh mozzarella slices
  • Fresh tomato slices
  • Salt for tomatoes
  • Thinly sliced prosciutto
  • Crispy prosciutto pieces
  • Fresh arugula
  • Olive oil for drizzling

Method
 

  1. Prepare the basil avocado aioli by adding avocado mayonnaise, basil leaves, parsley, and garlic into a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  3. Lightly toast the baguette until golden and crisp.
  4. Spread a generous layer of basil avocado aioli onto the toasted baguette.
  5. Layer fresh mozzarella slices on top.
  6. Add salted tomato slices.
  7. Add thin slices of prosciutto.
  8. Top with fresh arugula and crispy prosciutto pieces for extra crunch.
  9. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil.
  10. Slice, serve, and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, bake or pan-crisp a few pieces of prosciutto before adding them to the sandwich.
  • The basil avocado aioli can be made ahead and stored in the fridge until ready to use.
  • Best served immediately while the baguette is crispy.
