Method
- Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain for the most tender bites.
- Place one whole scallion across each strip of beef.
- Roll the steak tightly around the scallion and secure with a toothpick.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the rolls until browned on all sides.
- Remove the rolls from the pan, slice each roll into bite-sized pieces, then return them to the skillet.
- Add the mirin and soy sauce, then let the sauce simmer for 1–2 minutes until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
- Serve immediately over rice or enjoy as a delicious appetizer.
Notes
If serving as an appetizer, keep the toothpicks in for easy grabbing, or remove them before plating.
