Sticky Teriyaki Beef Scallion Rolls

These Sticky Teriyaki Beef Scallion Rolls are a quick Japanese-inspired recipe made with thinly sliced flank steak, fresh scallions, mirin, and soy sauce. They’re tender, juicy, sweet-savory, and perfect as an easy dinner, appetizer, or entertaining dish.

Ingredients

  • Thinly sliced flank steak cut against the grain
  • Whole scallions
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • Toothpicks

Method

  1. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain for the most tender bites.
  2. Place one whole scallion across each strip of beef.
  3. Roll the steak tightly around the scallion and secure with a toothpick.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the rolls until browned on all sides.
  5. Remove the rolls from the pan, slice each roll into bite-sized pieces, then return them to the skillet.
  6. Add the mirin and soy sauce, then let the sauce simmer for 1–2 minutes until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
  7. Serve immediately over rice or enjoy as a delicious appetizer.

Notes

If serving as an appetizer, keep the toothpicks in for easy grabbing, or remove them before plating.
