The Ultimate Leftover Steak Sandwich

This leftover steak sandwich turns last night’s BBQ into the ultimate next-day meal. It’s layered with olive tapenade, juicy sliced steak, sweet caramelized onions, fresh tomato, peppery arugula, and a drizzle of olive oil on a crisp toasted baguette.

Ingredients

  • ½ crusty baguette lightly toasted
  • Olive tapenade
  • Sliced leftover steak
  • Sweet caramelized onions
  • Fresh tomato slices
  • Peppery arugula
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Method

  1. Lightly toast the baguette until golden and crisp.
  2. Generously spread olive tapenade on both sides of the baguette.
  3. Layer on the sliced leftover steak.
  4. Pile the caramelized onions over the steak.
  5. Add fresh tomato slices.
  6. Add a handful of arugula.
  7. Finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
  8. Slice in half and prepare for the best bite of your weekend.

Notes

  • This recipe works best with leftover grilled steak, but any tender sliced steak will work.
  • For extra flavor, warm the steak slightly before assembling the sandwich.
  • Serve right away to keep the baguette crispy.
