The Ultimate Leftover Steak Sandwich

Transform leftover steak into the ultimate restaurant-style sandwich with a crispy toasted baguette, savory olive tapenade, sweet caramelized onions, fresh tomatoes, and peppery arugula. It’s crunchy, juicy, salty, and fresh — the perfect way to give leftovers a delicious upgrade.

Ingredients

Steak Sandwich
  • ½ crusty baguette lightly toasted
  • Olive tapenade
  • Leftover steak thinly sliced
  • Caramelized onions
  • Fresh tomato slices
  • Fresh arugula
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Method

  1. Slice the baguette in half and lightly toast until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Spread a generous layer of olive tapenade on both sides of the toasted baguette.
  3. Add sliced leftover steak evenly over the sandwich.
  4. Layer with sweet caramelized onions.
  5. Add fresh tomato slices.
  6. Top with a handful of peppery arugula.
  7. Finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
  8. Close the sandwich, slice in half, and prepare for the best bite of your weekend.

Notes

  • This recipe works best with leftover grilled steak, but any tender sliced steak will work.
  • For extra flavor, warm the steak slightly before assembling the sandwich.
  • Serve right away to keep the baguette crispy.
